Triumph Riders Association of Portland

Welcome to the website of the Cascade Moto Classics, Inc. chapter of the Riders Association of Triumph (RAT), also known as Portland RAT. Locally, we are known as the Triumph Riders Association of Portland, or "TRAP" for short. Our club began with Triumph's resurgence in the U.S. in l995. TRAP is North America's largest, most active RAT Pack. Currently, our RAT Pack has over 800 members and we have at least one club/dealership event each month besides our monthly breakfast meetings..

Our primary objective is to get together as a group for rides, social functions and to support and promote Triumph Motorcycles, and our local dealership, Cascade Moto Classics, Inc. in Beaverton Oregon. We meet the first Saturday of each month at 9AM at the Peppermill restaurant in Aloha Oregon for breakfast and socializing. We also have several overnight events, track days, and day rides throughout the year. Although our primary focus is Triumph, visitors are always welcome to our events on other brands of motorcycles.

Our group rides are not led or escorted. Instead, each rider is given a map and encouraged to "ride at your own pace". This promotes safety, allowing everyone to enjoy the route at whatever speed is comfortable for themselves, without the necessity of trying to keep up with others at a potentially dangerous and uncomfortable pace.

We hope you will consider coming to join us soon at one of our group events. We believe you will find that we are a fun loving group of individuals that will welcome you openly. If you are as obsessed about motorcycles as we are, come and join us for breakfast, or simply stop by and say hello at Cascade Moto Classics!

Soren Winslow

Despite his parents concerns about motorcycles, Soren started riding motorcycles when he was twelve on his next door neighbors '72 Yamaha 250 Enduro. After he that owned several small enduro and dirt bikes. Bought his first street bike, a customized '76 Honda CB450 that included fishtail pipes, when he was 17.

After not riding for about fifteen years, but never losing the passion, started looking at new motorcycles again in early 2004, when he ran across Cascade Moto Classics and fell in love with the Speedmaster. After almost a year was able to finally purchase a new 2004 Speedmaster in March of '05. In the meantime, became almost a permanent fixture at CMC on Staurday mornings, where he can still be found almost every Saturday morning.

In 2006, Lee Holzhey , the Pack Leader at the time, approached Soren to become the Cruiser Captain and organize rides for the Bonneville based motorcycles. After a couple successful years and having more than just the Bonnevilles and cruisers show up for day rides, became the Ride Captain for all organized day rides.

After seven years of service, Lee Holzhey, retired from being Pack Leader at the end of 2010. Soren Winslow and Marty Johnson were appointed as the new Pack Leaders starting in January of 2011. Along with the regular duties of Pack Leader, (organizing day rides, newsletter articles, chairing breakfast meetings, etc.), Soren organizes the Annual NW RAT Lunch in Chehalis and Baker City Rally.

From the depths of Canby, Oregon emerges Marty Johnson, navigating all the back twisty roads with balls of fire emitting from his exhaust and a look of stone in his eyes. Every corner straightens out in fear and respect from the sound of his Triumph, allowing him to pass through unscathed at speeds that rival those who have dared to set record Isle of Man TT times.
